Relae documentation
For the person who does the fundraising, the reporting, the receipting and three other jobs.
These docs cover two things: how to run Relae, and how the fundraising practice behind it works. You do not need a development background to read them. Where a page uses a term from the sector, it explains the term first.
Find your way in
Section titled “Find your way in”What Relae isThe short version, and who it is built for.
Your first weekFive days, in order, from an empty workspace to a worklist you can act on.
Affinity, access and capacityThe standard framework for deciding who to approach, explained from the beginning.
Issuing receiptsHow receipting works in Relae, and where your charity's responsibility sits.
Where your data livesWhat is stored, where it is stored, and who can reach it.
GlossaryEvery term used in these docs and across the sector, in plain language.
If you have never worked in a development office
Section titled “If you have never worked in a development office”Plenty of people running fundraising at a small arts organization came to it from programming, production, or general management. The sector has a working vocabulary that nobody hands you on the way in.
The Core concepts section teaches that vocabulary properly, one idea per page, with the concept before the interface. Read affinity, access and capacity first. It is the framework every large shop uses to decide who to approach, and it is the one that changes how you look at your list.
